Niall Brophy Award
The Niall Brophy Award is our most prestigious prize which we present annually to the club member who for whatever (on court and/or off court )reason goes beyond the call what is expected. 2011 will see the eleventh recipient of Niall's trophy.
Niall Brophy was a club member who was tragically killed in a road accident in 2000. In situations when something so traumatic and devasting like this occurs pain is obviously felt in so many contexts. As a mark of respect and remembrance to Niall the club decided to introduce a perpetual trophy in honour of his memory. Niall was an exceptional club member, not just a precocious talent on the court but also so generous with his time off it. It is so gratifying when players 'give back' to their clubs and Niall did this in spades - coaching teams, doing matchday tables and for his all round organisational support.
On prize day it is our most anticipated presentation which is graced with so much poignance. It is truly an honour for our recipients to hold this trophy.
